Sims Looks Back on Long Coaching Career



     Willard Sims led the Truman (then Northeast Missouri State) mens basketball to its last MIAA regular season championship back in 1979. Two years later, his 1981 Bulldogs won the first-ever MIAA postseason tournament championship.
     Sims, who was in Kirksville for the dedication of a renovated locker room named for him, says those title winning teams had great chemistry.....

     The '79 and '81 squads both made the NCAA Division II Tournament.
     Sims doesn't necessarily go right to the championships when thinking about this favorite teams....

     Sims won 310 games, from 1971 to 1995. After his time in Kirksville was done, he coached overseas....

     Longtime Bulldog coach Willard Sims, who is coping with Parkinson's Disease and currently resides in Georgetown, Texas.
