CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST FARMLAND FOODS



Kansas City-based Farmland Foods is accused of violating federal and state wage-and-hour laws in a federal, class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that Farmland did not pay employees for
"donning and doffing", which is time spent getting into and out of safety gear, cleaning it and walking to and from their workstations.

Attorney David Butsch of the Clayton law firm of Butsch Simeri Fields LLC filed the lawsuit, along with the Farwell Law Firm of Kirksville and a Minnesota firm:

Butsch says the five employees who filed the suit work at the Milan processing facility.

The lawsuit says Farmland requires employees to be ready to work, with protective gear on, when the production line starts running, and accuses the company of refusing to pay workers for time spent gearing up or cleaning up at the end of the workday:
