JURY BEGINS DELIBERATIONS IN SUMMERS' MURDER TRIAL

The murder trial of a Macon man ... is now in the hands of an Adair County jury. Closing arguments wrapped up Wednesday afternoon in Kirksville, and the jury is deliberating.

27-year-old Lucas Summers is charged with second degree murder, three counts of first degree assault and first degree burglary.

The case was moved from Monroe to Adair County on a venue change. Judge Russell Steele is presiding.

Summers and three other men are charged in connection with the March 2009 incident near Paris, in which 23-year-old Jerome Herrin was killed.
