That device is an A E D or Automatic External Defibrillator. AED's were made available for public use several years ago and can be found in most schools, public buildings, fire departments, law enforcement, and first responder vehicles.

Clay Joiner, Randolph County Ambulance District Administrator, was our guest on the Doctor's Office program heard Tuesday morning on KWIX, and he shared a statistic that shows Randolph County exceeds the national average of AED's available for use.....

Joiner added that AED units have been utilized in aiding several area residents to survive a cardiac event that they might not have had an AED not been available. If you are interested in more information about AED's, or would like to learn to use one if needed, you can contact the American Red Cross or American Heart Association in your area about CPR and AED classes.
