Moberly will be one of several cities and counties in Missouri that will place a "use tax" issue on the November election ballot.
The Moberly City Council started Monday night's meeting with a moment of silence in honor of the late Mayor Charles Carter, who died August 16th. Morris says a "use tax committee" has been working with both the city and the county in meeting all the election requirements and have the ballot issue ready to submit to the Secretary of State by August 28th.
The council also approved the ordinance calling for expendature of $287,000 for a Wightman Street realignment project...here's Tom Sanders....

The Moberly Council voted to move the first meeting in September to the 4th, the day after Labor Day.
In response to a question Monday evening from Councilman John Kimmons, Moberly City Manager Andy Morris acknowledged that the city's contract with Standpoint, a public relations firm in St. Louis, has been terminated. The company was hired in January to provide the community's point-of-view in the ongoing Mamtek-Project Sugar situation. However, Morris told Kimmons and the other councilmembers that in March he sent a letter to Standpoint's Principal Mack Bradley stating that the St. Louis company's services would no longer be needed.
