SADDLE INVESTIGATION UNCOVERS BURGLARY RING

What began as an investigation into stolen saddles in Excello has led to a second arrest, and Macon County Sheriff's deputies believe they've solved a multi-county burglary ring.

Macon County Sheriff Robert Dawson says the Excello victims noticed a posting on Craigslist this week advertising saddles for sale, which matched the description of their stolen property. Dawson says 33-year-old Randall Perkins of Kirksville was arrested in the parking lot of Moberly's Wal-Mart Supercenter Tuesday, after authorities set up a "sting" operation. The Sheriff says the investigation has also led to the arrest of the suspect's father, Randall Perkins Sr. of Moberly. Dawson says additional stolen property has been recovered, including a saddle:

Sheriff Dawson says Randall Perkins Jr. did not implicate his father, adding that investigators did an excellent job gathering information. Dawson says deputies have solved burglaries in several counties, including Macon, Randolph, Scotland and Shelby. He encourages residents whose homes have been burglarized to check with authorities:

The investigation continues. The saddles and chainsaw were stolen from a location in the 34000 block of Marshal Road in Excello.
