Moberly Area Community College President Dr. Evelyn Jorgenson hopes to break ground soon on a storm shelter and permanent higher education facility in Hannibal.
MACC currently leases the AT&T Building in Hannibal, and residents in Hannibal, Palmyra and Monroe City have called for the construction of a permanent facility for years. FEMA has already awarded MACC an $87,000 grant for design development, along with an $800,000 construction grant. President Jorgenson hopes they can receive additional grant money:

The facility's total cost is estimated at about $4 million. About 350 students currently take classes in Hannibal, and Jorgenson predicts enrollment will increase with a permanent facility.
The new structure will be built near Hannibal Regional Hospital. The land was donated to MACC.
