The Federal Communications Commission has mandated that public service radios across the country will have to comply with what's called the "narrow band" format. That mandate takes effect in January 2013. The Moberly City Council Tuesday night approved purchase of those narrow band receivers for the early warning sirens the city operates.
Moberly has 11 sirens that are used mainly to warn of approaching severe weather. Fire Chief Robert Creed says the units must meet the FCC standard....
