The Hounds pushed their lead out to as much as 21 with ten minutes left. State Fair trimmed the deficit to eight with time ticking down, but got no closer.
Both teams had three players score at least twenty points. For Moberly, Kenny Williams had 24 points and six rebounds, Jon Gilliam scored 22 with 6-7 shooting on threes, and Daylen Robinson had 20 and eight assists. The Greyhounds are now 17-7 overall, and 5-1 in Region 16. They also end a four-game losing streak to State Fair, dating back nearly two years. Moberly hosts Penn Valley on Tuesday, in a game we'll feature on KWIX and online starting at 6:45pm. Then, the Hounds can clinch the region title with a win at West Plains on Saturday.
Alfonzo Houston paced State Fair, with 29 points. The Roadrunners, since beating Moberly in Sedalia on January 18th, have lost six in a row. They are now 12-13 overall, and fourth in the region at 2-5.
The Lady Greyhounds struggled to keep up with the speedy Lady Roadrunners in a 65-55 loss earlier in the evening. MACC led 30-29 early in the second half, but State Fair went on a 25-7 run from there to pull away. Ashley Stevenson scored a team-high 17 points on her Sophomore Night, Jessica Bygate added twelve, and Tahsha Mitchell scored ten. Head coach Chad Killinger says his team struggled against State Fair's pressure defense, and transition offense...
