The Truman teams split with Missouri Western Saturday afternoon, in Pershing Arena.
The Bulldog women kept the MIAA's leading scorer in check, in posting an 80-to-64 victory. Jessica Koch had a streak of 33 straight double digit scoring games stopped, as the third leading scorer in Division Two basketball was held to eight; nearly 15 below her scoring average.

The Griffons had cut a 16 point lead down to seven, with under 12 minutes left, when the Bulldogs slammed the door, with 15 straight points....

Truman had seven players score between 13 and eight points. Breanna Daniels' 13 moved her into eighth place on the school's career scoring list, with 1,190. Becka McHenry had a double-double, with 10-points and 11 assists.
The Bulldogs take over sole possession of sixth place, in the MIAA, with a record of 9-and-9 and can clinch the six seed, with a victory over Lincoln on Wednesday. The third straight win pushes Truman's record to 15-and-9.
The Griffons lost their fifth in a row, to stumble to 6-and-18 and 4-and-14 in conference play.
The MO Western men turned a seven point second half deficit into a seven point lead and held on for a 74-70 lead over Truman. The Bulldogs held a 52-45 lead, with 8:46 left, when the Griffons went on a 15-2 run, in less than four minutes, to pass the 'Dogs. Truman closed to within two twice in the final 20 seconds, but the conference's worst free throw shooting team hit seven of eight down the stretch, to preserve the victory.
The Bulldogs shot an anemic 7-of-33 from beyond the arc. Coach Matt Woodley said his team needs more toughness...
The Griffons third MIAA win stopped a five game losing streak and improve their overall record to 8-and-16.
Truman's Seth Jackson led all scorers, with 19. The Bulldogs drop out of a tie for eighth place, with a conference mark of 4-and-14 and are 7-and-19 overall. Emporia State beat Lincoln, to take over the final position, for the conference tournament. The 'Dogs need to win their final two games and hope the Hornets drop their final two, to get to Kansas City.
