DOGS AND CATS SPLIT




     The Dogs and Cats split, in Bolivar, Saturday afternoon. The Truman women held off a Southwest Baptist rally, to prevail 77-68, while the Bulldog men had another cold shooting second half in falling 68-49.
     Becca McHenry scored 20 of her game high 24-points in the second half, while Jennifer Conway dominated the first half scoring 17 of her 20. The Bulldogs watched an 18 point lead early in the second half dwindle to three, when McHenry quieted the home crowd with two free throws then these two plays....

     McHenry had eight assists. Truman coach Michael Smith said his girls battled to hang on....

     Hickman High product Chasity Prince scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half, on 9-of-10 shooting, for SBU. The Bearcat women drop to 8-and-12 and 4-and-11 in the MIAA.
     Truman moves into sixth place, in the MIAA women's standings at 7-and-8 and improve to 12-and-8 overall. The Bulldogs are a half-game out of fifth place and can move up another step, with a victory at Fort Hays State, on Wednesday.

     For the second straight game, the Truman men shot below 30-percent in the second half and were outscored by SBU 38-24, after trailing by just five at intermission. 'Dogs coach Matt Woodley knows why its tough to score....

     Robson Memnon had a double-double for Baptist, with 20-points and 11 rebounds. The Bearcats won their fourth straight and ninth in 11 tries, to improve to 8-and-7 in the MIAA and 15-and-9 overall.
     E.J. Hicks led Truman, with 10. The Bulldogs drop to 4-and-11 in the conference and 6-and-16 overall.
     We will broadcast the next Truman doubleheader from Hays, Kansas, on KRES, Wednesday night.
