JORGENSON EMPHASIZES CRUCIAL ROLE OF MACC



Missourians with an Associates Degree earn $11,000 more than those with a high school diploma. Moberly Area Community College President Dr. Evelyn Jorgenson emphasized that number during Wednesday's testimony before Missouri's House Appropriations Committee on Education. President Jorgenson is concerned about the Governor's proposed 12 percent cut to Higher Ed. She told legislators community colleges play a unique role....

Jorgenson says MACC serves a 16-county area, with campuses in Moberly, Columbia, Kirksville, Mexico, Hannibal and Edina. She notes the school has about 5,000 students.....

Jorgenson notes both Culver-Stockton and Hannibal-LaGrange are private institutions.

She also says 90 to 95 percent of community college students stay in Missouri.....
