A man accused of murdering a Columbia woman more than 33 years ago pleaded "not guilty" during a court appearance Monday. 65-year-old Johnny Wright was arraigned in Boone County Circuit Court.
Wright was indicted Friday by a Boone County grand jury for second degree murder. The indictment essentially replaced the second degree murder charge that prosecutors had filed earlier.
Wright and his St. Louis attorney, Cleveland Tyson, appeared Monday before Judge Gene Hamilton.
Prosecutors say Wright killed 23-year-old Becky Doisy, a waitress at Ernie's Steakhouse. Doisy disappeared in August 1976 ... her body has never been found.
