Westran Ready for Rematch with Putnam County in District Play

For the second time this season the Westran Hornets will host the Putnam County Midgets. This Friday night clash comes in the quarterfinal round of Class 1 District play. The Hornets won the first meeting 24-14 on September 22nd. Coach Andrew Baxley expects another tight contest.

Baxley discusses the keys to coming out on top in the rematch.

The Hornets totaled 315 yards in their first meeting with Putnam County. The 2-7 Midgets come into the contest with some momentum having won two of their last three games. That includes a 14-7 week nine win against a six-win Polo squad. Coach Adam Huse says last week’s bye was beneficial for his team.

Unlike the first meeting with Westran, the Midgets won’t have to deal with quarterback Gage Adler who suffered a broken fibula in week seven. Adler had one passing and one rushing touchdown in the first meeting between the two teams. Huse discusses the adjustments for his defense in the rematch.

Coverage of Westran and Putnam County can be found on Superstation KRES and on centralmoinfo.com beginning at 6:30. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
