Sheriff Nichols told Good Radio that the name of the deceased pilot will not be released by authorities until Monday at the earliest pending an autopsy. Sheriff Nichols said that dental records would be used to confirm the identity of the pilot.
The corn field is located off county road 1170, between Darksville and Huntsville. The crash took place around 11:30.
The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) arrived on the scene at 5:00pm Friday and has taken over the investigation. Tom Bartels, the FAA's lead investigator on the scene, declined comment.
