MOBERLY MAN CHARGED WITH SIX COUNTS OF BURGLARY

A Moberly man arrested for his alleged role in a multi-county burglary ring has been charged with six counts of burglary.

56-year-old Randall Perkins Sr. remains jailed in Macon County. The investigation, which began as an inquiry into stolen saddles in Excello, led to Perkins' arrest. Macon County Sheriff Robert Dawson says the Excello victims noticed a posting on Craigslist this week advertising saddles for sale, which matched the description of their stolen property. Dawson says 33-year-old Randall Perkins of Kirksville was arrested in the parking lot of Moberly's Wal-Mart Supercenter Tuesday, after authorities set up a "sting" operation. The Sheriff says the investigation also led to the arrest of Randall's father.

Sheriff Dawson says deputies have solved burglaries in several counties, including Macon, Randolph, Scotland and Shelby. He says additional stolen property, including a saddle and hunting knives, has been recovered.

Randall Perkins Jr. was sentenced to three years prison last Thursday by Judge Rick Tucker in Shelby County Circuit Court, for sale of equipment with altered identification numbers. Perkins was ordered to report to the Shelby County Sheriff's Department yesterday (July 19) to be transported to prison. Before he could report, Perkins was arrested in the "sting" operation at Wal-Mart.

The investigation continues.
