ONE SUSPECT IN CUSTODY FROM BANK MIDWEST ROBBERY...SEARCH STILL ON FOR SECOND SUSPECT

One of two suspects in the morning armed robbery of the Bank Midwest branch in Moberly is behind bars, and officers continue their search for what Moberly Police Chief Russ Tarr is calling a person of interest. Just before 10:00 a.m. Friday, a man entered the bank wearing a joker-style mask, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. Following the robbery, the suspect fled out the back door of the bank and headed east. The suspect reportedly got into a vehicle blocks away, and fled the area. No one was injured during the incident. The getaway vehicle located in the commuter parking lot at the intersection of Highways 63 and 22. Chief Tarr tells centralmoinfo.com that officers from his department are coordinating with the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, Boone County Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, as well as other agencies during the investigation. The vehicle has now been towed from the lot at the Randolph and Boone County line. One black male has been taken into custody, and the other suspect is only described at this time as a white male. Officials have also recovered the mask worn by the suspect from this morning's robbery, and a bank bag has also been recovered.

In response to the incident, both North Park and East Park locations in the Moberly School District went into a temporary lockdown according to Assistant Superintendent Tim Roling, All movement has been restored at both locations, and district employees will remain at an elevated state of awareness the remainder of the day. KMIZ also reports the Sturgeon R-5 School District went under a modified lockdown which allows students to move freely inside, but no one was allowed to enter or leave the buildings.
