MILLION TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME TRANSITION PROGRAM


Million Taylor Funeral Home at 320 S. Williams in Moberly will be hosting a free Transition Program on April 23rd from 5-6pm. The topic is "How to eat healthy and wise for one or two". The Director of the Moberly Senior Center, Lacey Ackley, will be providing samples for you to taste. HOMETOWN HOMCECARE FREE CONTINUING ED OPPORTUNITY


Hometown Homecare of Fayette is holding a FREE Continuing Ed Opportunity on Thursday, April 24th for those who are supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through life-ending illness, grief and loss. The meeting will be held in the Conference Room at Hometown Homecare, 101 Furr Street in Fayette from 9-11:30am. Breakfast will be provided. LITTLE DIXIE READING GROUP


The monthly meeting of the Little Dixie Reading Group will be held on Thursday, April 24th 5:15pm at the Moberly Library. Everyone is welcome. The book "Ruins Of Us" by Columbia author Keija Parssinen will be discussed. A discussion of the book will be held at the Madison branch at 2pm, on Thursday.

KIRKSVILLE HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE DISPOSAL


The City of Kirksville is offering residents the chance to dispose of household appliances free of charge, regardless of whether or not they contain Freon. The pick-up of appliances will be done by Perfect Metals USA, LLC during the week of April 21-25.  To schedule a pick-up during that week, citizens should call Perfect Metals at (660) 665-8000.  Household appliances that are eligible for pickup include: refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, air conditioning units, washers, dryers, dishwashers, toaster ovens, furnaces, hot water heaters and space heaters. Please remove any food or other debris from the appliance before the scheduled pickup date.

MARTIN LUTHER KING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM DEADLINE


Sylvia Ganaway of the annual "Martin Luther King" scholarship program is encouraging all first-year college and vocational school students to submit an application for this year's financial scholarship. Entries end Friday April 25th. For application information please call (660) 263-7978.

8TH GRADE RECEPTION AND BUSINESS FAIR


The 7th Annual 8th Grade Reception and Business Fair will be Friday, April 25th beginning at 8:20am and ending at 12:15pm. This year, we have commitments from Atlanta, Bevier, Callao, Immaculate Conception, LaPlata, Macon, New Cambria, and Tri-County students, as well as our Career Center Students. The event will be held at the Macon High School Gym.

HERSHEY TRACK MEET REGISTRATION DEADLINE


The Moberly Parks and Rec Department will host the Hershey Track Meet on Saturday, May 10th at 9am at the Moberly High track. Kids 9 through 14 can participate. A copy of the child's birth certificate is required when registering. Pre-registration must be done by Friday, April 25th.

COOPER COUNTY RELAY FOR LIFE


The Cooper County Relay For Life begins at 6pm on Friday, April 25th at the Cooper County Youth Fairgrounds in Boonville. This is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

MARTINSBURG CRUISE NIGHT AND CAR SHOW


Martinsburg's 11th annual Cruise Night and Car Show will be Friday, April 25th from 5-8pm in downtown Martinsburg. The competition is broken into several classes and prizes will be awarded. For registration information, call, Charlie at (573) 492-6488 or Cathy at (573) 492-6446.

RANDOLPH AREA YMCA PRE/POST NATAL FITNESS CLASSES


The Randolph Area YMCA invites you to come try out their prenatal and postnatal fitness classes, taught by a NAFTA certified instructor. A doctor's waiver is required to participate. Classes are Mondays from 6-6:45pm for expectant mothers in the first trimester, and from 7-7:45pm for those in the second trimester from April 28th-June 19th. RANDOLPH AREA YMCA 2ND ANNUAL HEALTHY COMMUNITY DAY


The Randolph Area YMCA is celebrating the 2nd Annual "Healthy Community Day" on Saturday, April 26th from 10am-2pm. Activities include free food, health screenings, pony rides, and face painting, and a balloon launch. The YMCA will be open to non-members who would like to try the facilities during the event.

AREA CONCERT: FREE SOUTHERN GOSPEL CONCERT


A free Southern Gospel Concert featuring The Lesters, Final Authority, The Redemptions, and Matt Carroll, will be Saturday, April 26th beginning at 6pm at the Moberly municipal Auditorium. The doors and concessions will open at 4:30pm. A freewill offering will be received, and the emcee for the evening will be Duane Garren. SLATER STEVE MCQUEEN DAY


Don't miss the annual Steve McQueen Day coming up on Saturday, April 26th in Slater. Part of the day's events include the Steve McQueen Car Show.  Registration takes place from 9:00am-noon with a trophy presentation at 2pm. Classes inlclude Vintage, 40's-70's Mod, Corvettes, Street Rods, 40's-70's Stock, Mustangs, Best of 1968, Best Bullitt, Best Paint, Best Motor, Best Ford, and Best in Show. BENTON CITY COMMUNITY CENTER FRIED CHICKEN DINNER


A fried chicken dinner to raise funds for maintaining the Benton City Community Center will be held at the center on Sunday, April 27th from 11am-2pm. The menu includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, green beans, corn, bread, pies and desserts. The cost is ten dollars for adults, five dollars for children six through 12, and kids under six eat free. Carry outs are available.

CENTRAL METHODIST BAND CONCERT


The Fayette University Band will hold its second annual concert on Sunday, April 27th at 4pm. The concert will be held at the Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus. The event is free and open to the public.

AMERICAN LEGION POST #6 SPECIAL MEETING


The American Legion Post #6 Special Meeting will be held at 6pm on Monday April 28th at 619 Concannon Street in Moberly. There will be very important issues to vote on.

STURGEON CITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE REGISTRATION DEADLINE


Monday, April 28th is the last day to register at the Sturgeon City Office to be included in the Sturgeon City Wide Garage Sale. The annual event will be held Saturday, May 3rd in Sturgeon. Maps will be available Thursday, May 1st at local businesses or online at www.sturgeon-mo-org.

PARIS FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY ANNUAL MEETING


The annual meeting of the Paris Friends of the Library will be held Tuesday, April 29th at 7pm. You can learn more about the Friends and could win a New York Times bestseller of new Kindle.

HUNTSVILLE LIONS CLUB FISH FRY


The Huntsville Lions Club will sponsor a Fish Fry Saturday, May 3rd starting at 11am in historic downtown Huntsville. The cost is $7.50 per person which includes deep fried catfish, hush puppies, potatoes, cole slaw, and baked beans (Carry Out, only). Proceeds go to community projects.

IRON HORSE MURDER MYSTERY DINNER THEATRE


The Iron Horse in Blackwater is holding their first Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre for the season on Saturday, May 3rd. The theme is 'Gone with the Passing of the Wind'. RANDOLPH AREA YMCA KIDS NIGHT OUT


The Randolph Area YMCA invites you to drop off your kids for a night of fun at the YMCA. Swimming, games, and a lot of fun. Pizza will be provided by the YMCA. Kids Night Out is from 6:30-9:30pm the second Friday of each month, January-May. This is open for children in grades K-5. Pre-registration is required by the Wednesday prior to the event. FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES VICTORY BANQUET


The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host its first "Victory Banquet" on Thursday, May 8th at Moberly Municipal Auditorium, featuring former Major League Baseball pitcher Brian Holman. Area FCA Representative Mark Gassman will share more about this ministry. The banquet and program are free, but reservations are requested for a head count. RANDOLPH AREA YMCA: YOUTH SUMMER T-BALL LEAGUE


The Randolph Area YMCA invites you to come play in their YMCA Youth Summer T-Ball League for boys and girls age 3-6. Each team will play six games beginning on June 10th, and all games will be played on Tuesday evenings at the YMCA. Practices begin in late May. Come and sign up as a team or sign up as an individual and the YMCA will find a team for you. The cost is $30 for member and $40 for non-members. The deadline to register is May 16th. RANDOLPH AREA YMCA: SUMMER SWIM TEAM


The Randolph Area YMCA invites boys and girls ages 6-18 to come swim on the summer swim team. The team, along with other YMCA swim teams in the area, will be competing in many swim meets this summer. Come join up for a fun sport in the water. Practices will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4-5:30pm, May 12-22, and from 10-11:30am beginning May 28th. Children must be able to swim a full length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted, and will learn all four competitive strokes as well as turns and dives. The deadline to register is Friday, May 30th. COUNTRY SHOWDOWN PRELIMINARY


The first preliminary in our Country Showdown contest will be held Friday, April 25th at the Royal Theatre in downtown Macon. Registration begins at 6pm with showtime at 6:30pm. You are invited to take your shot. Concessions will be available.
